- A new trend is using patches of artificial grass as potty training pads for dogs. Some come with trays that go under the grass, while some simply can be laid on top of a disposable absorbent pad. Pets apparently love them and understand that this is a natural place for them to do their thing. They are especially useful for those living in apartments or condominiums. The artificial grass pad creates a mini yard for the dog. Another perk is that they do not have to be cleaned up daily. My friend who used the absorbent pad type says that he only needs to change the pad every 1-2 weeks!
